The Bank of Commerce
The Bank of Commerce opened in August 3rd, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. From that day, the bank has demonstrated its commitment to supporting and serving its community. Over 200 employees share the bank’s passion for volunteerism. In 2019, they donated over 8,400 hours to community causes and will stay engaged in the communities they serve. Bryan Abegglen’s experience is just one reason why.
Abegglen, IT Manager and Information Security Officer at The Bank of Commerce, reflects on the moment he volunteered to fill in for a coworker on the bank’s scheduled day to serve at the local soup kitchen. Bryan says “I usually saw email requests for volunteers for the soup kitchen, and for one reason or another I had never made the time to help. I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed the camaraderie amongst employees and the sincere expressions of gratitude from the people we served.” The experience opened his eyes and helped him realize how much can be accomplished when people pull together. Abegglen says “I have taken every opportunity to serve at the soup kitchen since the first time and try to encourage other employees and friends to enjoy this gratifying experience.”
